About

Victoria Ledig (b. 1985) is a contemporary painter based in Berlin, working in large-scale abstract figuration centered on womanhood and human connection. Her paintings depict women — often larger than life, unapologetic in scale — caught in moments of closeness with mothers, sisters, and daughters. Her figures rarely look at one another and turn toward the viewer, aware of being seen, holding a quiet tension between intimacy and exposure.

Ledig began painting during early motherhood. Isolated during a difficult stretch of early parenthood and without a mother or sisters nearby, she found herself returning to the same subject: women in connection with one another. What started as a way of processing a new identity became a body of work about longing — for sisterhood and the female village she didn’t have at the time. That longing has never left the work. It’s often what collectors say they recognize: the feeling underneath them — a memory of their own story.

Working primarily in acrylic and oil pastels on canvas, Ledig returns to warm palettes of pink, orange, and red, often broken by blue. She works between figuration and abstraction and continues to explore how much of the body she wants to show.

Ledig grew up in Berlin after spending her early years in Lithuania and Yakutia. Her cross-cultural upbringing, along with a decade working in fashion design, continues to shape her practice today.

In March 2024, Avant Gallery presented Ledig’s US debut, Labor of Love, in partnership with the Women’s Chamber of Commerce of Miami-Dade County and 100+ Women Who Care. From 2024 to the end of 2025, she was exclusively represented by Avant Gallery (USA). Since the beginning of 2026, she has been represented by De Galerie in Den Haag, the Netherlands.
